My First Quilt...

Wow I did it... I finished my first quilt with the helpful guidance of my Mom. 

 I come from a long line of women who sew.  I can recall times that my brother and I would play under a quilt as my Mom and Grandma would be going to work on it over our heads on a big wooden stretch frame.  That is how it got quilted.  Now most quilts are done on a machine.  I wanted to learn this skill so that I can carry on the tradition and the knowledge as to not loose it like some family traditions.    I hopefully to be able to make things for all the kids in the family so they have something of me to take with them as they travel through life.  I am sentimental that way.  What better gift to give than the one from the heart. I look forward to making them all quilts as they grow up and have families of their own to keep warm.
